Synopsis: The play It Happened in Khatija’s Village dramatizes the obstacles, struggles, and victories of a unique set of characters as they undergo a personal transformation while simultaneously working to transform a whole village in India. Their efforts to end the sex trafficking and prostitution that the red light village has relied on economically for generations -- and replace it with a commitment to girls’ education and empowerment -- dramatically changes both the villagers and the village.
